Is ignorance really bliss?

I see a lot of women, who really get treated like second grade citizens at home.They get treated like idiots (though i am pretty sure no one really is born an idiot) and yet these women seem to be blissfully ignorant of the fact that they are being treated like shit.It could be coping mechanism they have developed over the years by having to deal with insensitive disrespectful family member and at the work place or perhaps it is that they were never aware that this particular behavior being meted out to them is disrespectful in the first place.
You see, if you are a personality that have never been ever exposed to anything other than women being talked down to or women never getting a chance to assert themselves, that is what you are used to and so it never occurs to you that you are being abuse.This lack of knowledge probably allows these women to lead a whole life time of disrespect without understanding.
I mean, there are going to be those some women who though they have only seen women abused all their lives but yet they are able to question it and then comes the painful knowledge of bad treatment and once the knowledge occurs one cannot go back to that place of blissful ignorant peace. You see, as long as you are not aware you have the cancer, you are at peace. Perhaps in certain situations which are irrepairable ignorant bliss serves as an antidote to anger
